See above link for the Selectmen Agenda for a meeting to be held this Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012
@ 4:30 pm. The Selectmen will be taking a position on their budget recommendations for the annual Town Meeting. Town Administrator, Rick White, says that the Selects have already voted to raise parking fees to pay for more police personnel and deploy beach monitors.
As many as possible should attend to learn details of the administration's plans and show support for the necessary increases in these budgets.
Rick says the Selectmen are supporting increases to help alleviate the issues. He is not so sure about support from the Finance Committee who have not yet set their hearing schedule. We should go to that one for sure when it is scheduled. Both of these boards influence the town meeting vote on the budgets.
Remember in the last two budget cycles the Police budget that funds more summer patrols was cut. We want increases not cuts, the Selectmen appear to be on Board and are raising fees to cover the costs. The FinCom's position is unknown.
The meeting will probably be live on channel 18 accessed from the Town website.
Please forward this to anyone you know who might be interested. Attend if you can. If you can't attend send an e-mail to chairman, Paul McCormick(paulmccormick@comcast.net) advising that you cannot attend but support increases in these two budgets to put more police and beach personnel in the Mayflower, Bayview and Chapin beach neighborhood.
For those of you who knew Fred Manella, 24 Horsefoot Path for the last 41 yrs, I am very saddened to report that he died on Dec. 11th at age 90. He was a great neighbor and valued friend. I'm sure many will be looking for Fred and his longtime companion Helen Stefanik sitting in the garage as they did each summer day for decades. Helen is now living with her daughter in Marstons Mills.
Thanks for your interest.
